BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Ellen Remmer, Chair
Dear Friends,
Tony Grassi, Vice Chair
Dr. Heather Leslie, Vice Chair
This year has brought remarkable progress.
Together, we’ve taken bold steps to restore
rivers, protect forests, and build resilience
in the face of a changing climate. In the
following stories, you’ll read about some
of our recent efforts, like a once-in-ageneration agreement to improve the
health of the Kennebec River and support
the vitality of its surrounding communities,
and our groundbreaking cross-cultural
collaboration in the use of prescribed 昀椀re. These
efforts are more than just individual projects:
they’re acts of hope, rooted in science and carried
forward by people who care deeply about the planet’s future.

What inspires me most is your unwavering support. In every challenge we face, you
show up—with generosity, with vision, and with a shared belief that a better future is
possible. That spirit is what makes our work not only possible, but powerful.
Thank you for being part of this journey. As we look ahead to a new year, I’m 昀椀lled with
gratitude and renewed determination. There is still much to do, and I know we’ll meet
what’s next with the same courage and care that brought us here.
Yours in nature,
